GAKUBA Emmanuel

Biography

Dr. Emmanuel Gakuba is a Senior Lecturer of Chemistry at the University of Rwanda College of Education (UR-CE). He holds a PhD in Organic Environmental Chemistry from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, an MSc in Organic Chemistry from the same university, a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from the former Kigali Institute of Education, and a BSc with Education (Biology-Chemistry-Education) from the former Kigali Institute of Education. He has been an academic staff member at UR-CE since 2005.

His research interests include the analysis and monitoring of organic pollutants in environmental matrices, the extraction of secondary metabolites from natural sources for drug discovery, and science education. He has published several papers in reputable journals and supervised many students in their research. He is an associate member of the African Centre of Excellence for Innovative Teaching and Learning of Mathematics and Science (ACEITLMS).
