| EmailAlain Claude KARASIRA is currently Assistant Lecturer (Economics Subject) at the University of Rwanda/ College of Education. He previously served as Head of Economics and Business Studies Department ; in charge of Ngenda District Department of Planning and Development, Head of Ngenda District Department of Planning and Finance and finally Executive Secretary of former Ngenda District. He holds a Master’s Degree in Development Studies specialising in Economics of Development pursued at the International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam (Netherlands). He also holds a Bachelor of Arts with Education from former Kigali Institute of Education (currently University of Rwanda-College of Education) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from former Kigali Institute of Education (Currently University of Rwanda-College of Education).
He is the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) certified Non-Tariff Measures Data Collector. In addition, he holds a certificate in Strategic Planning for Poverty Reduction (Rwanda Institute of Administration and Management), a certificate in training of trainers on Child Centered Interactive Methodologies (K.I.E-UNICEF), a certificate in Leadership Development (Canterbury Christ Church University), a certificate in advanced Econometrics Training in Research Methodology, Time Series and Panel Data (IPAR/Rwanda-UNECA), a certificate in Education for Sustainable Peace in Rwanda (Aegis Trust) and a certificate in Introduction to Sustainable Development in Business (O. University of Mauritius and the Commonwealth of Learning).
Alain Claude KARASIRA participated in various seminars (Seminar on Food Security : The Global Picture and on the MDG’s at the Centre for Development Studies of the University College Dublin ; Ireland) and Seminar on Policy Coherence for Development and on the Present State of the Celtic Tiger at the Institute of International Integration Studies, Trinity College Dublin ; Ireland).
With research interests in Macroeconomics issues, Development Economics, Rural and Community Development, Public Policy, Pro-Poor Growth and Education .Hepublished a book entitled “The sustainability of rapid growth in post genocide Rwanda : An analysis of the production and trade structure”, LAP Germany,ISBN 978-3-659-11343-7.
